Our Mission, Vision and Values
Our mission declares our purpose as an organization and serves as the standard against which we weigh our actions and decisions.
Our mission is:
  • To organize festivals, events, entertainments and other initiatives which, in the context of sexuality and gender identity, across York Region and beyond, illuminate and celebrate human diversity, captivate the general public, inspire inclusivity and foster harmony and acceptance.
Our vision guides every aspect of our organization by describing what we need to accomplish.
Our vision is a society enriched by:
  • Education: Awareness and understanding that counter homophobia, transphobia and heterosexism.
  • Justice: Eradicating marginalization and discrimination based on sexuality or gender identity.
  • Community: An environment where everyone can be safe, contented, valued and respected.
  • Association: Opportunities for fellowship, celebration, interaction, shared experiences and mutual support.
Our values guide our actions and describe how we behave.
We value:
  • Diversity: Human differences that, in combination, strengthen and enhance our society.
  • Pride: Celebration of individuality, progress and achievement.
  • Equity: The right of everyone to equal treatment and opportunity.
  • Dignity: Openness about sexuality and gender identity without fear of discrimination or oppression.
  • Health: Self-esteem, confidence, optimism and belief in the ability to succeed.
  • Engagement: Commitment to making a positive difference by proactively dedicating time and effort.
  • Wisdom: A science-based understanding of sexuality and gender identity unfettered by myth, indoctrination, historic traditions or cultural taboos.
Our Objectives
  • To advance education of the general public, by organizing events, entertainment and other initiatives that create visibility and opportunities for better awareness and understanding of York Region's LGBTTIQQ2SA community (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer, Questioning, 2-Spirited community and allies), as a means to promote equity, inclusivity and greater acceptance of diversity, in order to reduce marginalization, discrimination and homophobia.
  • To improve the health and well-being of the members of York Region's LGBTTIQQ2SA community, by fulfilling the previously stated objective and by creating social opportunities, free from discrimination, that celebrate diversity, engender self-esteem and provide LGBTTIQQ2SA community members with opportunities for peer support, interaction and community engagement.
  • To improve the health and well-being of all residents of and visitors to York Region, by fostering a safe and harmonious society within York Region and by strengthening its reputation as a region that embraces diversity and welcomes people of all minorities.
