AMS Party Crew participated in last year's Pride Parade in Richmond Hill - and they will be joining us once again in Newmarket this year!
York Pride Fest is delighted to announce that this year, for the first time, we will be staging the annual
on Main Street South in downtown Newmarket.
The parade will start at 10.30 from the intersection of Main St South and Ontario St. It will then travel south along Main St, ending at the intersection with Timothy St.
We extend a warm welcome to all residents of York Region, as well as visitors from outside our region, to join us at this event. And we invite everyone in attendance to enjoy the remainder of the day at our
Pride on Riverwalk
event located on Riverwalk Commons, just a few metres away from the end of our parade route.
In York Region, our parade is not just about Pride in the LGBT community. It celebrates and embraces inclusivity, equity and diversity in one of Canada's most vibrant, welcoming and tolerant regions.
Come See The Parade!
If you would like to watch the parade, consider using public transit. The Viva Yellow stop at Davis/Main and the Newmarket GO station are both just a few minutes walk from the parade route. If you live north of Newmarket, the 9.03 train from Barrie will bring you to Newmarket in plenty of time for the parade.
Limited free parking will be available on Charles St after 9.30am until 5pm. All-day parking is also available for $3 on the east side of Main St just 50 metres north of Davis Drive.
Our Grand Marshal
Our parade Grand Marshal this year will be Andrew Morrison-Gurza.
Andrew is a Disability Awareness Consultant who also has the experience of living as a Person with a Disability. Andrew works within a number of different communities educating through his lived experience, including LGBTQ communities, educational institutions and business organizations. Through his work he has stimulated discussion and created awareness in support of people with disabilities in combination with diverse sexualities and gender identities.
Join Us In The Parade!
York Pride Fest encourages participation by all groups, including community groups, non-profit organizations and businesses.
In particular we invite participation by local businesses and organizations wishing to capitalize on this opportunity to make visible their support for inclusivity and diversity in York Region.
We welcome individuals and organizations who wish to march together with another organization in our parade. However, for organizations wishing to display any of their own signage, we require that they register independently. During registration they may request to be placed adjacent to another registered group in the parade line-up. It is a strict condition of participation that signage may not be displayed in the parade for any unregistered organization or company.
